Restore App Registry (Customizer) Support for Community Widget Extensions in On-Premises Environments

In HCL Connections 6.5 Multi-Tenant (MT), administrators could dynamically add custom community widgets to the "Add Apps" palette using the App Registry (Customizer).

Current architecture for Connections 8.0 On-Premises has deprecated this dynamic registration. Instead, it requires manual server-side modifications to the widget-config.xml file. This creates a significant technical barrier for customers who operate in "private cloud" or restricted On-Premises environments where they have limited access to the file system or require a more agile, UI-driven deployment method.

• Prior Documentation: The MSP Documentation explicitly mentions that the extension type community_widget should appear on the Add Apps panel.

• Standard (Current) Procedure: Adding custom widgets via widget-config.xml

Re-implement support for the community_widget extension type (or similar) within the App Registry V3 schema for On-Premises installations.
