HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

HCL Connections Engagement Center (HCEC) - News Slider - Redesign How Additional News Entries are Shown When Larger HCEC Grid Containers are Used

Dear Team,

We have identified a UI/UX issue with the News Slider widget in HCEC when used within larger grid containers. Currently, when the widget is placed in a larger "box," the second news entry appears partially cut off, which negatively impacts the page's professional look and feel.

To resolve this, we request a redesign of the widget’s responsive behavior based on the HCEC grid size:

  • Small Grid Containers: Display one news entry (full width).

  • Medium/Large Grid Containers: Display two news entries, split 50/50 so both occupy equal screen estate.

  • Extra-Large/Full-Width Containers: Please evaluate the feasibility of displaying three news entries, split 33/33/33 for visual balance.

Goal: The widget should automatically detect the container width and adjust the number of visible cards to prevent partial clipping and maximize usable space.

I have attached a screenshot demonstrating the current "cut off" behavior for your reference.

Thank you in advance!
